The company was incorporated in 1984 (as Thomson Nielsen) and since then we have worked almost exclusively in radiation detection technologies.

Thomson Nielsen was acquired by Best Medical in the summer of 2005, and has since been renamed Best Medical Canada. Best Medical Canada will continue to be actively involved in research and development on the MOSFET products in various medical and space applications, in addition to being a Canadian distributor for Best Medical International.

Our Technology

Our core technologies are internationally recognized as leading edge and we continue to spearhead technology development to maintain our significant lead in all fields.

Our proprietary MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) technology is rugged enough to withstand flights into the high-radiation environment of space. Equipment has been flown on a number of satellites as well as being used inside MIR Space Station. The MOSFETs have been worn by Astronauts on the International Space Station as a part of a Human Health project in order to measure dose to the body during space walks. At the same time, Best Medical Canada's dosimeter is the smallest in the world, at 1 millimeter square, and can be used in the most sensitive medical applications, such as pediatric cardiology.
