For Dmax Calibration of MOSFET Dosimeters The Arplay Phantom has been specifically designed to facilitate the calibration of BMC MOSFET dosimeters. The Phantom allows easier placement of the dosimeters within the apparatus, saving considerable time during measurement. There are various MOSFET-shaped markings, with or without the brass build-up caps, etched on the upper face of the Phantom; each color corresponds to the color of the relevant BMC dosimeter so that positioning errors can be easily avoided. The Arplay Phantom can be used to compare the two readings, MOSFET and ionisation chamber, in a single measurement. The chamber can be positioned at different depths in half centimeter increments from 2 to 10 cm. The Phantom can also be used to perform calibrations when there is a build up, thus reducing the number of measurements required to calibrate the MOSFETs. The Phantom is made of RW3 high impact polystyrene, a material familiar to physicists, and has been used in radiotherapy centres for many years. It is light and compact, 20 x 20 cm: sufficiently large enough to have backscattering and allow measurements for the size of fields encountered in routine clinical situations, yet small enough to avoid cluttering the area. The Arplay Phantom includes a leveling plate located underneath the Phantom. This plate allows the user to accurately ensure that the Phantom is horizontally level. The Arplay Phantom is the ideal tool for performing Dmax calibrations of BMC MOSFET dosimeters for all electron and photon beams. Features
